Eugenie  ()

Description: Technique: Transfer-printArchaeological Notes: Eugenie is a pattern of stylised leaves. A table plate from Victoria Hotel carries the pattern maker's initials I. (or T. or J.) W. (maker unknown) (Brassey and Macready 1994: 41, 53 Fig. C11, 61 Fig. 30g). The pattern name probably refers to Eugenie, Empress of France following her marriage to Napoleon III in 1853. A Eugenie pattern was made by Minton (Coysh and Henrywood 1984: 131), but this is by a different maker.
