Coysh and Henrywood (1989: 100) describe Forest as a simple design of tree branches that was rendered on teawares. A number of manufacturers are listed as producing this design. These include; John Allason of the Seaham Pottery, John Baker of the Sunderland Pottery, Samuel Alcock and Joseph Clementson. The known examples of this design conform to this description, but presently no manufacturing marks have been recovered. A very similar pattern titled ?Grove? has been recorded at Miner?s Bay, Kawau Island. |
